Social Media and Social Media Trends - LJ 4
Hi Everyone,
For this weeks learning journal we wil be discussing social media and social media trends. Sticking to the topic of the week I want to start of discussing the article on sproutsocial by Ronnie Gomez from this weeks readings. The article discusses some of the latest social media trends. The one standing out most to me is "edutainment". This is growing quickly and companies are starting to create informative content that is also entertaining. This is the type of content that is needed for everyone of all ages. Informative content that also can grasp the audience attention and keep it will get its point across more so than something that is strictly informative. I like this.
This is the type of social media trend that I believe can stand the test of time. "Edutainment" is not something that will just fizzle out. Think about when you were young in middle or elementary school. The information that usually was grasped the easiest not only was informative but was also entertaining. This continues on into highschool as well. If you are entertained but why you are being informed about your attention is less likely to be taken away from the material. This is just the way it is.
One social media trend that I have taken part of recently would be creator economy. I am not on the creator side of this but on the viewership side. Content creation is booming business right now and I am often on Twitch watching some of my favorite streamers in my free time. I find the content creation business fascinating and if I have time I would try to start content creation of my own. For now, I will stick to being a viewer.
Lets move on to discuss ChatGPT and other chat AIs like it. Me personally, I have not tried any of these new technological advances, and do not plan to. I have plenty of friends who have tried them but for me personally I find them a bit creepy. I just don't see myself using these type of things at this time.
That is it for this post. There are no other trends I would like to discuss. The main one I would have discussed if it wasn't mentioned in our readings was content creation economy.
