Social Media and Image Sharing: LJ 5

Hi Everyone,

This week in our readings we learned about social media and image sharing. From things such as copyrights of images and the implications with social media to general image content online and and the engagement that it brings we learned quite a bit about the topic.

Images are used in social media in many ways. People post personal images to show off what they do in their lives, things they enjoy, etc. Blog sites will post images of celebrities and things of that nature. News sites will post images that pertain to the world news they are talking about in certain articles. Images make up a huge portion of the social media world today.

Social media has some negatives to the images as well. One thing that we read about was body images and how images online are impacting people. Often times we will see images of the "perfect body" when in reality these bodies just aren't physically possible for most people. People get obssessive over these things and in turn this can result in a lot of negatives in that persons life such as poor image of self, eating disorders, etc. Unfortunately, these types of images will always be there.

The last thing I want to discuss is some of the best photo sharing applications. The first in the article that we read online was Flickr. Flickr is a free photo storage application where up to 1000 photoes can be stored. They have a range of subscription prices from 6 to 10 dollars with different features for each. It also is ad free. If you purchaes a subcription you also will have unlimited photo storage. Some other storage servicies are google photos and adobe subscription.
